Had a chance to meet Sam in person in Quebec city in 2015. Great guy, and his parents are very nice as well. I really hope he gets a chance with us soon, so we can see what he's got. It would royally suck to help him along this far, lose him on waivers and have him prosper as a legit NHL dman for another org. You just know that injuries will hit the d corps eventually here, and we'll need reinforcements, but he does need to play.

Does anybody know what explanation was given for sending Carsen Twarynski down
to Phantoms .In what I have seen ( not much 2 games ) he played well

Or they could waive Hagg and solve 2 problems at once.

IMO... with the lack of goal scoring, they wanted to bring up skill (Farabee). Given the experience of the rest of the 4th liners, Twarynski wasn't going to push any of them out of a roster spot. So he probably got the "keep up the good work and you'll be back up soon someday" speech

Not really. He did play really well. Definitely better than everyone else in the bottom 6 but sending him down to the Phantoms won't hurt him (unless he has a Morin like experience). He'll get a chance to show what he can do in a bigger role with the Phantoms. He was starting to break out a little as the season went on last year.

I don't think his ceiling is 4th line like many do. He seems to have enough skill that when paired with star players could work well. It would have been interesting to see what he would do with Hayes as his center instead of Laughton. He'll get a chance to show more at the AHL level but he'll need to show progression over last season. He was really good last training camp too but didn't do much with the Phantoms early on.

Because Hagg is statistically and and to the eye test, one of the worst defenseman in the league. Thinking that no one can’t beat his extremely low bar without even trying is either naive or negligent.

I really wanted to like Vigneault but right now I’m not sold. What about our defense makes him feel like he shouldn’t send a message and scratch one guy? Do you guys think we’ve been so good changes should be made? Because I don’t feel that way. In fact, our team defense is still the biggest issue.

I think Hagg has been good this year. When he plays within himself he's a very strong 5-6 guy. I'm just not seeing the eye test the same way you are. Fancy stats aside I think Hagg is a keeper, or at least a decent piece in a trade scenario.

Please point out to me which statistic in the 19/20 season puts him as one of the worst defenseman in the league?

Haag has played well to this point in the season. Maybe a visit to the eye doctor is in order.

I never understood the Haag hate. He is proficient as a 5/6/7 bottom pair defender. I really want to see Morin play a stretch of games. Maybe a tough schedule time for LHV maybe get in 6 or 7 games so we know he can keep up. Then play him here some. The kid needs to play hockey somewhere and I want it to be with us. I've been rooting for him and Haag both. Every team in the league has a Haag in the bottom pairings.

Morin should be doing all that extra work. Not sure why it is glorified.

Bill would you waive him to get him playing time?

I just watched Farabee's post game interview . He said he was surprised to get the call up so soon. He also mentioned 2-3 times that playing with the Phantoms relaxed him and let him play his game. AV said in behind the glass in talking to him that the practice after he found out, that he was ripping pucks INTO the net and looked relaxed.

Well, for starters, the Flyers haven't been giving up a lot of scoring chances in most of the games so far. The 6-2 win on Monday may actually have been the team's poorest defensive performance of the season. Even in the Calgary game -- the only one where the puck possession edge truly went against them -- the Flyers defended well for the most part. It was with the puck where they struggled.

The extra skating and doing the optionals is expected. Opting to skate anyway and work with Ricci on a designated off-day for everyone who wasn't rehabbing an injury (minus Konecny, who was playing catch-up in camp) was not just doing what's expected. It was going a little beyond, which Morin said was because he felt he could do a lot better than how he'd played in the preseason up to that point. He finished up camp pretty strong thereafter.

Sounds like he's working his ass off to have a chance to live the dream. I hope he gets a real shot and soon.

so do you waive him to get him back on the ice?

Could they mutually agree to terminate the contract, then resign him to an ahl only deal (assuming you can pay him whatever you want in the ahl as I do not know if there is a max salary). Then when the time is right sign him to a pro deal.

That's silly, but a Hagg trade that allowed Myers back on the roster could be a good move. There are eight dmen on NHL contracts on the Phantoms, and De Haas makes nine.

Myers is too good for the AHL and needs to play NHL games to keep developing.

That, and also they replaced him on the roster with a center (Vorobyev) so Raffl could go back to wing.

Defence a huge issue? You realize we kept Edmonton and Dallas to less than like 15 shot right? The D hasnt been perfect, it can always be better but the team is way better defensively than last season. Vegas was the only game where we did not look good defensively.
